Madness in March

This year’s tournament has proven to be another dandy thus far. Defending Champion Baylor, gone. Top seeded Gonzaga, gone. Pac-12 Champions Arizona, gone. The list goes on and on. Some of the biggest bracket busters came in the first round with the #15 St. Peter’s Peacocks defeating heavily favored #2 Kentucky Wildcats. The #12 Richmond Spiders made good on their stolen bid by beating #5 Iowa Hawkeyes who were rolling having won 9 of 10 and the B1G Tournament entering the Big Dance. The ever popular #12 over #5 occurred again with #12 New Mexico St. knocking off #5 Connecticut.

We are now down to the Elite 8 and some very intriguing story lines to go along with it. #2 Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski picked up his 100th tournament win after beating #3 Texas Tech. Should the Blue Devils defeat #4 Arkansas later today they could face #8 North Carolina for a rubber match. The Tar Heels are playing stellar basketball and will face a St. Peter’s squad who is also at the top of their game. The Peacocks have the longest current winning streak (10) and have become the “Cinderellas” of this year’s tournament.

Another outstanding match-up today will be against two future HOF coaches. Jay Wright and #2 Villanova look to return to the Final Four for the first time since winning it all in 2018 while Kelvin Sampson and #5 Houston hope to return to the Final Four for a second year in a row. Finally, #10 Miami (FL) goes up against the #1 Kansas Sunday afternoon. The Hurricanes have already made history by making it to their first Elite 8 in school history. Meanwhile, the Jayhawks have their eyes on a 16th Final Four appearance and the first since 2018 where they lost to eventual National Champion Villanova.

A quick update on this year’s Bracket Bingo Competition shows that the Bracket Nerd’s score currently stands at 22. A win on Sunday by Kansas would put his final score at 32. A few more possible Bingos still remain on players’ Bingo cards but once all Bingos have been decided the next NFT drawing will be held. Congratulations to player ScottyP123 who won the first NFT drawing and will get to choose from our collection found on OpenSea. Enjoy the remaining games this weekend and all the madness that remains!
